Rules for Custom Uploads
Rules for Uploading Custom Items In-Game
Avalonia Online allows players to showcase their creativity by uploading custom items. To maintain the game’s visual quality, theme, and fairness, all uploads must strictly follow these rules.
1. No Animated Bodies
“Animated” refers to GIF files or any image with multiple frames that creates an animation. Animated uploads are not allowed. Only static images are accepted for custom bodies.
2. No Hands on Bodies
Placing hands on the body file instead of keeping them in the head file causes aesthetic issues during animations. When hands are part of the body, it creates visual glitches where hands appear disconnected or animate improperly.

3. Consistent Colors Across Frames
Each frame of your image must have the same colors and logic tracking in the patterns contained in your body. If colors change between frames, it will appear animated in the game when playing an animation, which is strictly prohibited.

4. Face Visibility
Heads must not have hats or masks that cover the entire face, as their function is to show the character’s identity and expressions, which usually increases the quality. However, small accessories such as bandages, earrings, freckles, or other skin details that are part of the character are acceptable as long as they don’t cover the face entirely or that would make them be considered entirely as a “hat”.
5. Quality Standards
All custom uploads must include shading, texture, and proper contrast to maintain visual quality. Solid colors without shading, pillow shading, lack of anti-aliasing (AA), or messy scribbles as shadows are not allowed. These elements create poor contrast, break immersion, and make characters look flat and out of place. Highly saturated colors tend to appear low quality when loaded into the game, while low contrast colors prevent details from standing out.

6. No Stolen Assets
Uploads that copy or resemble bodies and heads from other iAppsBeats games are not allowed. These designs often involve copyright issues since characters and assets belong to their respective game developers. Using content from other games without permission is not okay. All uploads must be your own original creations and not edited versions of already existing items.
7. No Backpacks on Bodies
Bodies should not have backpacks or any accessories attached to the back area. This is because back accessories should be uploaded as separate items. However, small accessories like side bags, belts, small chains in the pockets, waist pouches, or accessories that hang at the side or front of the body are acceptable.

8. Respect Personal Custom Uploads
Copying or recreating custom uploads that belong to other players or staff members is prohibited. Each player’s custom uploads are considered personal property and should not be replicated without permission.
9. Copyrighted & Fictional Characters
We understand that many of you enjoy customizing your characters with designs inspired by your favorite series, anime, and video games. You can create and use heads inspired by anime, video game, or series characters (it’s like doing cosplay or paying tribute to the character). BUT IT’S IMPORTANT to always check the terms and conditions that apply to that character’s intellectual property.
10. No Edits of In-Game Shop Items
Items that are simple edits or recolors of existing in-game shop items are not allowed. However, you may use existing items as a template or base to create your own original designs, as long as the final result is significantly different and not just a minor alteration. Simple color changes or basic edits are not acceptable.

11. Proper Proportions
Heads and bodies must be proportioned correctly to fit the game’s standard sizing. Heads that are too small or too large that don’t fit properly with different hat types are not acceptable. Custom uploads should match the general size and scale of existing items to ensure compatibility and quality.

12. Visibility and Outlines
Custom uploads should have black or dark outlines to stand out from the game background. If an upload does not include outlines, it must be highly detailed to ensure it remains visible and doesn’t blend into the environment. Poor contrast with the background is not acceptable.

13. No Transparency
Transparency in custom uploads causes visibility issues within the game. When parts of a character are transparent, they can blend into the environment or other players, creating unfair advantages or simply looking broken. Transparent elements also create contrast problems where the character becomes difficult to see against different backgrounds. All uploads MUST BE fully opaque to ensure characters remain clearly visible at all times.

14. Maximum of 2 Recolors Per Upload
Limiting recolors per upload helps protect the player’s custom belongings and copyright. When multiple recolors are included in a single upload, it becomes difficult to track ownership and distinguish between original designs and simple color variations. Excessive recolors also create confusion when reporting stolen content, as identical designs with different colors become harder to trace back to the original creator.
15. Maintain the Medieval Theme
Customs must feel coherent with the game world and not visually clash with the rest of the content (e.g., no futuristic themes). We understand there are some existing items with these characteristics; however, there will be no more items of this type going forward. This helps preserve immersion and a consistent visual experience for all players, remembering that Avalonia is a medieval-themed game.
16. Hat Guidelines (Clans or Competitions)
Hats are accessories in every sense and may include elements that complement the body design, such as tails, small wings, caps, or similar accessories that protrude from the body or head. However, over-saturating with these elements should be avoided. The hat must maintain visual balance and not overload the character with too many accessories that distract or look excessive. The key is that the hat should feel like a natural complement to the overall design.
